Isn't it obvious that DaP10 is going to be 12-12-69. We're only 3 weeks away from shipping and they haven't announced it yet? But sending confirmation e-mails to subscribers without saying what the release will be? Nothing personal Dave, but ever since you took over things have been going down hill. I'm sick of 13,000 limited edition, get raped on e-bay if you can't afford it in the 1-2 day window you have to pre-order it Dave's Picks' BS. Dick would be rolling in his grave. GD merchandising, YOU HAVE TO CHANGE!

First off, its 14,000 this year so if you really want one you should be able to get on before it sells out. They don't sell out in a day.

Second, Dick never had to deal with Rhino. Remember who is in control. Dave just picks them, i don't think he runs the marketing. I would argue that Dave has done an outstanding job of picking for this series. He hasn't picked one yet that i would not have purchased. That is way better than what they did for Road Trips where i only purchased about half the releases.

Third, the announcement for DaP Vol. 2 and 6 were both around 4-10 or 4-11 for 5-1 shipping date. They have been pretty consistent with how they have done this. I think its pretty smart. Anticipation stimulates interest and excitement both here and on the dead.net boards.

I think Rhino/GDP and Dave had done a really good job over the last few years after a rocky start. 4 Dave Pick's or Road Trips releases, 1 box set and usually 1 other special release that has often has a DVD/BluRay each year. Last year we even got that acoustic set release. I do agree that i am not a huge fan of combining the subscription program with limited releases. I do kind of feel that I am being strong-armed. As i mentioned before, if they release 3 that you would purchase then the gamble pays off based on free shipping and the bonus disc. Hopefully Dave will continue to do a good job.

Be happy with what we are getting, its way more than most bands release 20 years after they existed. Well except Hendrix.

Its okay. Some interesting spots but i would not call it a must own release. I suspect we could arrange for you to hear it if you are really interested.

Jerry said they should press 500,000 of each release, and they should be FREE!

GDP is doing a pretty stellar job overall. We're spoiled with a wealth of GD releases. Do I enjoy every release? No. Do I disagree with the some of the picks? Yes.

Ever since David took over things have been going down hill? Greatly increased amounts of releases and merchandise means we've been going down hill? How about we go back to the mid nineties when maybe 2 releases came out in a year.

Don't forget that David selected the releases for Dicks Picks 15-36 (full of stellar shows). Dick would be pleased about the current amount of releases IMO. Maybe not the specific choices as David and Dick had different tastes.

I can feel your angst to a degree. But we've got it good.

Guess I was a bit harsh. You guys are right, we do have it pretty good. I'm just anxious for the next release, which they announced TODAY! I do think that its great how they are releasing new stuff that has found its way back to the vault. Sorry David, I just can't stand the outrageous prices people are asking on e-bay.

they can only charge those prices because we're all so fucking crazy about this music (though a lot of the time they just stay for sale bc its too expensive). Comes with the territory i guess? lol
